Meet Piera Ceresa of Aymara Textiles !!!
Today we chat with the AMAZING @pieraceresa of @aymaratextil as she tells us about her work building a global retail brand that aims to help keep the textile traditions and culture of the Aymara and Quechua communities in Chile and Peru alive and thriving. The textiles are called “mantas” or “aguayos” they are used in their everyday life to go to markets, carry food, carry babies, or used as blankets and rugs.
Piera began turning them into bags and other modern accessories a few years back, in an effort to elevate their monetary worth so they could provide financial and creative freedom for their beautiful makers.
Piera is a Chilean woman who has always been amazed by “the deep history and dedication behind the practice where they use it as a way to tell stories and art expression. The way they wave and the colours are used varies depending on the landscape the communities are surrounded by.” – www.aymaratextiles.com
Join as we check in with Piera, as her work day begins in Spain … xx
